Is the advancement of technology in popular music having effects on our generation and even the artist?

Rationale for Choice
What about this topic appeals to you? Why did you choose it?
I feel as though kids in the up coming generation has lost respect for good and/or experimental song writing. Everyone is listening to dubstep and popular rap. Rappers especially use the same song structures over and over for the most part, its a formula that they have figured out and mastered. And dubstep is even worse. Anyone can download software and make their own dubstep song using garageband, etc. It doesnt take much talent at all really.

What do you already know about this subject?
As a songwriter myself I know its difficult to make a true piece of music that i'm proud of while also trying to experiment with different structures and different styles of music incorporated into one piece. And i've had experience in a class room making hip hop beats and I realize the level of skill to do so is completely different.

What are you hoping to learn about the subject?
I would like to find out if the music that is popular now has effects on the listeners mind such as maybe a different attention spans among listeners and other things. If they like listening to dubstep which is jus a fast beat with robot sounds maybe they just like that because they cant sit and enjoy really technical music.

What potential risks or challenges do you foresee for your project?
its going to be hard to interview without any bias opinions, or putting my own bias into the project.

Also, try not to fall behind. It is a lot of work, but if you space it out it will be much more accomplishable.
